Mountain Heights Lodge sits directly off State Highway 4, providing easy access to Tongariro National Park and the Whakapapa and Turoa ski areas. The lodge offers a hot tub for guest use after days on the mountain or hiking trails. Guided quad bike and buggy adventures are available on-site, and bicycle rentals allow guests to explore the scenic farmland and bush around the property. Private parking is provided at no additional charge.

Accommodations

Mountain Heights Lodge National Park provides six self-contained motel units and four ensuite B&B rooms. Each motel unit comes with a fully equipped kitchenette, allowing guests to prepare their own meals. B&B rooms welcome children aged 14 and above. Daily housekeeping service is included for all accommodations.

Location and Activities

The lodge is situated next to New Zealand's first National Park and World Heritage Area, with the Tongariro Alpine Crossing hiking trail nearby. Whakapapa and Turoa, the country's largest ski areas, are within a short drive and provide Australasia's longest vertical descent. Guests can also access dedicated snow-making facilities on the mountain that operate even in warm temperatures. The property itself has walking paths that offer views of Mount Ruapehu and fields with alpacas.

Dining and Breakfast

A continental breakfast is available for purchase at $15 per person, delivered the night before in a basket so guests can eat at their own time. The basket includes toast, spreads, milk, juice, yogurt, and fruit. Those staying in the motel units can cook using the kitchen facilities, and guests have access to a shared kitchen and a log fire lounge for relaxing in the evenings.

Mountain Heights Lodge offers wheelchair-accessible rooms and facilities for disabled guests, including toilets with grab rails and accessible parking. Family rooms are available, and the entire property is non-smoking. The lodge is not pet-friendly. Smoke alarms and fire extinguishers are installed for guest safety.
